Q; When you sign a player as an ADDITIONAL SIGNING to replace a player that hasn't played or been turning up, are you still required to pay the £2 additional signing fee?

A; YES, the £2 fee is still required to be payed to the league committee member as this is a new player.

Q; Are you allowed to wear a hat or baseball cap when playing in a league game?

A; No headgear shall be worn, without the prior permission of the BDO appointed Organisers.

E.G. A Sikh would qualify for such permission. BDO PLAYING RULE - Playing Attire part 25.02

Q; How small can your darts be and is there any restriction on how heavy they can be?

A; BDO PLAYING RULE - 1.0 - Players shall provide their own darts, which shall not exceed an overall maximum length of 30.5cms. ( 12 ins. ), nor weigh more than 50 grms. Each dart shall consist of a needle shaped point, which shall be fixed to a barrel. At the rear of the barrel shall be an attached flighted stem, which may consist of up to five separate pieces. (IE: a flight, a flight securing device(s), a flight protector, and a stem.)

Q; When marking the board during a game is there any standard layout?

A; Example of setting out a Score Sheet, or Scoreboard as per BDO PLAYING RULE - 12.12

Strikethroughs can be used to avoid confusion between what a players last score was and what they are required to finish the leg.

The away player checked out 20 in 2 darts for a 17 dart leg.

Common mistakes that should be avoided;
writing x10, x T or similar when a player
requires a double / finish.

Q; If a pub does not have a raised oche, then where on the metal carpet strip should I stand for the correct throw, Behind the strip or on top of it?

A; As per BDO PLAYING RULE - 15.01 - A raised Oche, 38mm high and 610mm long, ( 1.5ins high and 24ins long )

must be placed in position at the minimum throwing distance and shall measure from the back of the raised Oche 2.37 metres, ( 7ft 9.25 ins. ) , along the floor to a plumb line at the face of the dartboard.
A player should always throw from the back of the oche providing the throw has been measured correctly.

Q; In the Peem Pearson competition, can you change players or move players from one team to another after the entry forms have been handed into the committee?

A; NO, Peem Pearson teams cannot be changed once submitted to the committee. Each Peem Pearson team can have a maximum of 4 players, thus allowing for work commitments or illness/injury to a player.

Q; During matches can you play an early double if young players or guys on nightshift need away sharp?

A; Early doubles can only be played after two singles have been played and providing both captains agree.

Q; What happens if the home team only have 7 players but the away team only has 7 players aswell? Which team gets the point for the 8th set?

A; If the home team are unable to put a player up then it is irrelevant if away team have no player to face said missing player.(E.g. if both teams have seven players and home team are unable to put a player up then away team receive leg.) - ADMDL LEAGUE RULES - GENERAL RULES 9

Q; If a dart falls out of the board before the player retrieves it does the total score count?

A; Any dart bouncing off, or falling out of, the dartboard, does not count, and shall not be re-thrown.

BDO PLAYING RULE - 10.05

Q; What happens if a player hits the winning double then throws another dart at the scoring segment of the board is the player then bust?

A; Any darts mistakenly thrown by a player after scoring the required ‘double’ shall not be counted, as the respective leg, set, or match is concluded by the dart scoring the required ‘double’.

Q; When marking can you write things like x10, Double 8 or xT to indicate what a player requires to finish?

A; No indication of the required ‘double’ shall be given by the marker, or the referee.

(IE: ‘32’ required and NOT ‘Double 16’)
